Sharla MacKay has been elected to serve in the capacity of the new President -Elect of the FSABC. Sharla serves as the Director of Operation for McPherson Funeral Service, an independently owned funeral home in Cranbrook, British Columbia.
Sharla was born in Vernon, BC and soon after moved with her family to Victoria, BC. They then carried on to Calgary, AB where she was raised and went through schooling. Dancing was a large part of Sharla’s life growing up. She trained in ballet, jazz, tap and musical theater.
Upon graduating from High School she auditioned for a production company and ultimately started dancing professionally on cruise ships. Her travels took her to over 65 countries worldwide and all 7 continents.
Since completing her numerous journeys, Sharla settled among the beautiful mountains of Cranbrook, British Columbia. Being raised in a family of funeral professionals, she has been around funeral service her entire life. Sharla ultimately stumbled into the profession of Funeral Service after working part time at her father’s Funeral Home. Sharla then went on to graduate from the Western School of Funeral Service. She has been an employee of McPherson Funeral Service since 2003.
Sharla will be one of the youngest to hold prestigious title of President-elect and the second woman ever. She is also the second person in her family to hold this position following her father who was President in 1985.
Sharla excepts this position with great honour and looks forward to serving her profession.
