When a mass fatalilty incident occurs within the province of BC, the Coroners Service is responsible for leading the mass fatality management response with respect to determining identity of the deceased and how, where, when and by what means the deaths occur. The Coroners Mass Fatality Response Plan is the culmination of three years of research and consultation.

Effective January 1, 2011 where compensation is payable as the result of the death of a worker or as the result of injury resulting in death the maximum amount payable for funeral and related expenses is $8,312.82 and $1,313.36 for additional transportation.
